Backstage app icon

Backstage is a native app for Mac, iPhone and iPad that keeps a band’s work in one place: from the first song idea to the release and the next gig. I build it for my own bands.

What it does

  • Songs move through stages from seed to master, each with its own sheet, production to-dos and song folder.
  • Releases bundle songs into a single, EP or album, with their own to-dos for artwork, distribution and promotion.
  • Productions for music, video, photo and social media, built from editable templates with gates and assignees.
  • Live: gigs with timings, contacts, rider, packing list and setlist.
  • Calendar, finances, documents and a band manifest, for as many bands as you like.
  • Discord: one forum post per song and per gig, with the conversation shown inside the app.

Your data

Backstage has no account and no server of its own, and it doesn’t track you. Everything is stored on your device and synced through a folder you choose: iCloud Drive, Google Drive for desktop or Dropbox. On iPhone and iPad, Backstage can sync the shared data file directly with Google Drive. The details are in the privacy policy.

Availability

Backstage is a personal project and isn’t available in the App Store. It’s licensed under the MIT License. Use of the app is subject to the terms of use and license.
